Texas Flags-4-Veterans
A gift from the State of Texas to the families of those who served.
Texas should honor the families who chose to lay their veteran to rest here.
When a veteran is laid to rest in a community cemetery, the family may not receive the same ceremonial recognition often associated with national or state veterans cemeteries. Texas Flags-4-Veterans was created to help close that gap.
Through this project, eligible families receive a Texas flag that has been flown over the State Capitol, a commemorative certificate from the Texas House of Representatives, and a formal presentation recognizing the veteran’s service and the family’s sacrifice.
The project is designed for families whose loved one was buried in a Texas community cemetery and who may otherwise have received little or no public recognition from the state they called home.

A simple path to determine whether a family may qualify.
Eligibility is reviewed by WRRF based on the veteran’s burial location, date of burial, available project resources, and whether the cemetery is within an active WRRF Lodge service area.
Eligible Family Member
The request should come from an eligible next-of-kin, family representative, or person authorized to act for the family.
Veteran Buried in Texas
The veteran must be laid to rest in the State of Texas.
Within 24 Months
The request should generally be submitted within 24 months of burial or permanent placement.
Community Cemetery
Priority is given to veterans buried outside national and state veterans cemeteries.
WRRF Lodge County
The cemetery must be within a county served by an active WRRF Lodge or approved project partner.
