Memorial Flag Poles
Most veterans serve in the United States Armed Forces out of a profound love for their country— a love so deep that they are willing to lay down their lives to protect it. They fight to defend the principles and values that are foundational to the American way of life, believing these ideals are worth the ultimate sacrifice. They give their lives so that future generations—our children, grandchildren, and beyond—can inherit the freedoms and opportunities that define us as Americans.
For generations, the American flag has symbolized freedom and the enduring values of our nation. We believe that every cemetery we serve, no matter its size, should proudly fly this symbol. The flag should stand as a beacon, a reminder to the community and visitors alike that American veterans rest there. It should serve as a watchful sentinel, guarding the heroes who gave their lives, or were willing to do so, for the very freedoms we hold dear.
Memorial Services
Our Memorial Services Program is designed to honor the veterans we serve in meaningful and impactful ways throughout the year. Each veteran’s gravesite is adorned with a 12x18 American flag, which flies proudly from Memorial Day through Independence Day and from Veterans Day to the New Year.
On Memorial and Veterans Day, volunteers place a single poppy at each veteran’s grave and in partnership with the Travis Manion Foundation’s Honor Project volunteers lay Remembrance Tokens. At Christmas we work with numerous volunteer organizations supporting Wreaths Across America at select WRRF partners cemeteries to lay wreaths for the Holiday.
Through our Final Watch Ceremony, we honor POWs, KIAs/MIAs, Purple Heart, and Medal of Honor recipients by placing a wreath at their grave for three days on the anniversary of their death, symbolizing the three-volley salute (honoring their duty, sacrifice, and internal rest) before closing with Taps to commemorate that their watch is complete and ours continues.
